This is an original 1935 black and white print ad for Brooks Brothers Clothing, Men's Furnishings, Hats and Shoes. The company was founded in 1818, by Henry Sands Brooks, and remains the oldest men's clothing chain in the United States. Upon his death in 1850, Henry's children Elisha, John and Daniel took over the business and shortened the name from H. & D.H. Brooks & Co. to Brooks Brothers. The company was initially recognized for its ready-to-wear suits. It's insignia has been formally established as the Golden Fleece (sheep suspended by a ribbon), which was first affiliated with the company in 1850, though it drew such inspiration from the Greek mythological flying ram.
